Whether on a plane, train or bus, I used to always make a playlist of my favourite songs, put my earphones in and listen to music. But I recently discovered podcasts. And I'M OBSESSED. It has now become one of my favourite things to do while looking at the sky through the airplane window... Or looking at the road when driving. (Yes I'm that kind of person who listens to podcasts and not the radio in the car)

Today, I'm going to share with you my 5 favourite podcasts to listen to:

#1 An intriguing podcast - SERIAL

This one is my favourite. Each season is different, focusing on a true story. Season 1 was absolutely amazing. I still can't figure out if the main character, Adnan, is guilty or not. He was arrested for his girlfriend's murder 16 years ago at the age of 17 and has been in prison ever since. Sarah Koening hosts this podcast, interviews Adnan, his family, friends and also people who strongly believe he's guilty. You follow the host as she's trying to find answers and you feel like you're investigating this case with her too.

I'm listening to Season 2 at the moment. It's about Bowe Bergdahl, an American soldier who walked off his base and got captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan. After five years of being one of their prisoners, he returned to the U.S. only to be... charged with two crimes. And thanks to this podcast, we get to hear his side of the story. Very interesting so far.

Recommended episode: Every single one of them. I can't choose. It's so good. You need to listen to them in order if you want to understand the whole thing.

#2 A podcast for 20-somethings - MILLENNIAL

If you are in your twenties (or if you want to understand our generation of 20-somethings) and are still figuring out what you want to do with your life, then this podcast is for you. I can relate to Megan Tan, the host, so much. Season 1, focusing on her post-graduation life, is already over. Season 2 will be about other people going through their twenties. I have been loving every episode so far. It is such an honest, raw and refreshing podcast.

Recommended episode: Season 2 episode 14, "I Never Talk About Politics"

#3 A comedy podcast - THE MORTIFIED PODCAST

This is one of the best comedy podcasts. Every time I listen to an episode, I can't help but laugh out loud. People read their teenage diary, telling embarrassing stories about their youth on a stage, in front of a crowd. And it's hilarious!

Recommended episode: Episode 60, "Angela: I Have Bad Gaydar"

#4 A podcast about love - MODERN LOVE

Each episode is about 20 minutes long and tells a completely different story, so you don't have to listen to them in order. That's something I particularly love about this podcast because you never know what you're going to get next!

The stories are from the New York Times' column Modern Love, which are essays submitted by readers to the American newspaper. It's not just about romantic love, but about all different kinds of love. They are very personal, some will make you laugh and others may put you to tears, but all stories will make you think. You even get to hear the writer's point of view as they interview them at the end. You can choose not to listen to that if that's something you wouldn't find interesting, but there are some episodes I really liked and it was nice to get an update from the author. It added something more to the story.

Recommended episode"Missed Connection" | Modern Love 1

#5 A travel podcast - LA PIÑA

I recently discovered La Piña and fell in love with it after listening to the first episode. Each one is focused on a different destination. The host gives you tips, talks about food, culture, fashion and even interviews local people to learn more about what they do for their city. Thanks to this podcast, you will explore a new place for 30 minutes without even going there. It's definitely worth a listen. I can't wait for more episodes!

Recommended episode: Episode 1, "Mexico City"
